Crime, sometimes using weapons, takes place against pedestrians and vehicles in Maputo and other urban areas. Common sense precautions will reduce the risk of becoming a victim. Some rural areas are still contaminated with landmines. According to Landmine Monitor's 2008 report, this includes, but may not be limited to, the following provinces: Gaza, Inhambane, Manica, Maputo, Sofala and Tata. Several governments urge visitors to exercise caution in Mozambique.
