There is a risk of terrorism and armed crime in Tanzania though most visitors do not experience problems. Crime takes place in urban areas, public transport terminals, on public transport and in tourist locations such as Zanzibar, Arusha and the national parks. Some governments urge visitors not to travel to the border areas with Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo and to proceed with caution throughout the country.
