Turkey suffers occasional bomb attacks in its urban and tourist areas. These are usually linked to secessionist groups in the southeast of the country. Multiple governments advise visitors not to travel to the southeast, particularly the border areas with Iran, Iraq and Syria. Visitors should also exercise vigilance throughout the country. Turkey is in an active seismic region and major earthquakes take place from time to time.
