Multiple governments advise their nationals not to travel to Haiti due to the high rates of violent crime and civil unrest. In January 2010, Haiti suffered a 7.0 earthquake with its epicentre approximately 15km southwest of Port-au-Prince. In addition to the high toll of dead and injured, much of the country's critical infrastructure was badly damaged.
